Devarim 21 – Summary

The Unsolved Murder – The first half of Chapter 21 describes the Eglah Arufah (beheaded heifer) ceremony to be performed by the priests and city elders in the case of an unsolved murder. In the second half of the Chapter, Moshe instructs the people regarding marriage to female captives of war, inheritance of the firstborn son, the "rebellious son", and the prohibition to leave the body of an executed criminal hanging overnight.
