+ | There are many parallels between the narratives of Avraham and Yaakov. For example, in Bereshit 46, the language of Hashem’s revelation to Yaakov ( וַיֹּאמֶר יַעֲקֹב יַעֲקֹב וַיֹּאמֶר הִנֵּנִי) closely parallels His revelation to Avraham at the Akeidah: (וַיֹּאמֶר אַבְרָהָם אַבְרָהָם וַיֹּאמֶר הִנֵּנִי).<fn>The significance of this parallel is that both cases represent Hashem’s sparing the protagonist from the anticipated or believed loss of a child: Hashem instructs Avraham not to sacrifice Yitzchak, and He appears to Yaakov on his way to reunite with Yosef.</fn> | ||

Biblical Parallels Index – Bereshit 46
Avraham and Yaakov There are many parallels between the narratives of Avraham and Yaakov. For example, in Bereshit 46, the language of Hashem’s revelation to Yaakov ( וַיֹּאמֶר יַעֲקֹב יַעֲקֹב וַיֹּאמֶר הִנֵּנִי) closely parallels His revelation to Avraham at the Akeidah: (וַיֹּאמֶר אַבְרָהָם אַבְרָהָם וַיֹּאמֶר הִנֵּנִי).1
