Overview

The Tel Dan Stele is most famous for its mention of the "House of David," considered by many to be the first extra-Biblical reference to the Davidic dynasty discovered.  The Aramaic inscription describes the triumph of Aram over a king of Israel and king of Yehuda.  As such, it is believed to speak of his war against Yehoram and Achazyah, discussed briefly in Melakhim II 8.
