פרק טז

(יח) שֹׁפְטִים וְשֹׁטְרִים תִּתֶּן לְךָ בְּכׇל שְׁעָרֶיךָ אֲשֶׁר י״י אֱלֹהֶיךָ נֹתֵן לְךָ לִשְׁבָטֶיךָ וְשָׁפְטוּ אֶת הָעָם מִשְׁפַּט צֶדֶק. (יט) לֹא תַטֶּה מִשְׁפָּט לֹא תַכִּיר פָּנִים וְלֹא תִקַּח שֹׁחַד כִּי הַשֹּׁחַד יְעַוֵּר עֵינֵי חֲכָמִים וִיסַלֵּף דִּבְרֵי צַדִּיקִם. (כ) צֶדֶק צֶדֶק תִּרְדֹּף לְמַעַן תִּחְיֶה וְיָרַשְׁתָּ אֶת הָאָרֶץ אֲשֶׁר י״י אֱלֹהֶיךָ נֹתֵן לָךְ. (כא) לֹא תִטַּע לְךָ אֲשֵׁרָה כׇּל עֵץ אֵצֶל מִזְבַּח י״י אֱלֹהֶיךָ אֲשֶׁר תַּעֲשֶׂה לָּךְ. (כב) וְלֹא תָקִים לְךָ מַצֵּבָה אֲשֶׁר שָׂנֵא י״י אֱלֹהֶיךָ.

פרק יז

(א) לֹא תִזְבַּח לַי״י אֱלֹהֶיךָ שׁוֹר וָשֶׂה אֲשֶׁר יִהְיֶה בוֹ מוּם כֹּל דָּבָר רָע כִּי תוֹעֲבַת י״י אֱלֹהֶיךָ הוּא. (ב) כִּי יִמָּצֵא בְקִרְבְּךָ בְּאַחַד שְׁעָרֶיךָ אֲשֶׁר י״י אֱלֹהֶיךָ נֹתֵן לָךְ אִישׁ אוֹ אִשָּׁה אֲשֶׁר יַעֲשֶׂה אֶת הָרַע בְּעֵינֵי י״י אֱלֹהֶיךָ לַעֲבֹר בְּרִיתוֹ. (ג) וַיֵּלֶךְ וַיַּעֲבֹד אֱלֹהִים אֲחֵרִים וַיִּשְׁתַּחוּ לָהֶם וְלַשֶּׁמֶשׁ אוֹ לַיָּרֵחַ אוֹ לְכׇל צְבָא הַשָּׁמַיִם אֲשֶׁר לֹא צִוִּיתִי. (ד) וְהֻגַּד לְךָ וְשָׁמָעְתָּ וְדָרַשְׁתָּ הֵיטֵב וְהִנֵּה אֱמֶת נָכוֹן הַדָּבָר נֶעֶשְׂתָה הַתּוֹעֵבָה הַזֹּאת בְּיִשְׂרָאֵל. (ה) וְהוֹצֵאתָ אֶת הָאִישׁ הַהוּא אוֹ אֶת הָאִשָּׁה הַהִוא אֲשֶׁר עָשׂוּ אֶת הַדָּבָר הָרָע הַזֶּה אֶל שְׁעָרֶיךָ אֶת הָאִישׁ אוֹ אֶת הָאִשָּׁה וּסְקַלְתָּם בָּאֲבָנִים וָמֵתוּ. (ו) עַל פִּי שְׁנַיִם עֵדִים אוֹ שְׁלֹשָׁה עֵדִים יוּמַת הַמֵּת לֹא יוּמַת עַל פִּי עֵד אֶחָד. (ז) יַד הָעֵדִים תִּהְיֶה בּוֹ בָרִאשֹׁנָה לַהֲמִיתוֹ וְיַד כׇּל הָעָם בָּאַחֲרֹנָה וּבִעַרְתָּ הָרָע מִקִּרְבֶּךָ. (ח) כִּי יִפָּלֵא מִמְּךָ דָבָר לַמִּשְׁפָּט בֵּין דָּם לְדָם בֵּין דִּין לְדִין וּבֵין נֶגַע לָנֶגַע דִּבְרֵי רִיבֹת בִּשְׁעָרֶיךָ וְקַמְתָּ וְעָלִיתָ אֶל הַמָּקוֹם אֲשֶׁר יִבְחַר י״י אֱלֹהֶיךָ בּוֹ. (ט) וּבָאתָ אֶל הַכֹּהֲנִים הַלְוִיִּם וְאֶל הַשֹּׁפֵט אֲשֶׁר יִהְיֶה בַּיָּמִים הָהֵם וְדָרַשְׁתָּ וְהִגִּידוּ לְךָ אֵת דְּבַר הַמִּשְׁפָּט. (י) וְעָשִׂיתָ עַל פִּי הַדָּבָר אֲשֶׁר יַגִּידוּ לְךָ מִן הַמָּקוֹם הַהוּא אֲשֶׁר יִבְחַר י״י וְשָׁמַרְתָּ לַעֲשׂוֹת כְּכֹל אֲשֶׁר יוֹרוּךָ. (יא) עַל פִּי הַתּוֹרָה אֲשֶׁר יוֹרוּךָ וְעַל הַמִּשְׁפָּט אֲשֶׁר יֹאמְרוּ לְךָ תַּעֲשֶׂה לֹא תָסוּר מִן הַדָּבָר אֲשֶׁר יַגִּידוּ לְךָ יָמִין וּשְׂמֹאל. (יב) וְהָאִישׁ אֲשֶׁר יַעֲשֶׂה בְזָדוֹן לְבִלְתִּי שְׁמֹעַ אֶל הַכֹּהֵן הָעֹמֵד לְשָׁרֶת שָׁם אֶת י״י אֱלֹהֶיךָ אוֹ אֶל הַשֹּׁפֵט וּמֵת הָאִישׁ הַהוּא וּבִעַרְתָּ הָרָע מִיִּשְׂרָאֵל. (יג) וְכׇל הָעָם יִשְׁמְעוּ וְיִרָאוּ וְלֹא יְזִידוּן עוֹד. (יד) כִּי תָבֹא אֶל הָאָרֶץ אֲשֶׁר י״י אֱלֹהֶיךָ נֹתֵן לָךְ וִירִשְׁתָּהּ וְיָשַׁבְתָּה בָּהּ וְאָמַרְתָּ אָשִׂימָה עָלַי מֶלֶךְ כְּכׇל הַגּוֹיִם אֲשֶׁר סְבִיבֹתָי. (טו) שׂוֹם תָּשִׂים עָלֶיךָ מֶלֶךְ אֲשֶׁר יִבְחַר י״י אֱלֹהֶיךָ בּוֹ מִקֶּרֶב אַחֶיךָ תָּשִׂים עָלֶיךָ מֶלֶךְ לֹא תוּכַל לָתֵת עָלֶיךָ אִישׁ נׇכְרִי אֲשֶׁר לֹא אָחִיךָ הוּא. (טז) רַק לֹא יַרְבֶּה לּוֹ סוּסִים וְלֹא יָשִׁיב אֶת הָעָם מִצְרַיְמָה לְמַעַן הַרְבּוֹת סוּס וַי״י אָמַר לָכֶם לֹא תֹסִפוּן לָשׁוּב בַּדֶּרֶךְ הַזֶּה עוֹד. (יז) וְלֹא יַרְבֶּה לּוֹ נָשִׁים וְלֹא יָסוּר לְבָבוֹ וְכֶסֶף וְזָהָב לֹא יַרְבֶּה לּוֹ מְאֹד. (יח) וְהָיָה כְשִׁבְתּוֹ עַל כִּסֵּא מַמְלַכְתּוֹ וְכָתַב לוֹ אֶת מִשְׁנֵה הַתּוֹרָה הַזֹּאת עַל סֵפֶר מִלִּפְנֵי הַכֹּהֲנִים הַלְוִיִּם. (יט) וְהָיְתָה עִמּוֹ וְקָרָא בוֹ כׇּל יְמֵי חַיָּיו לְמַעַן יִלְמַד לְיִרְאָה אֶת י״י אֱלֹהָיו לִשְׁמֹר אֶת כׇּל דִּבְרֵי הַתּוֹרָה הַזֹּאת וְאֶת הַחֻקִּים הָאֵלֶּה לַעֲשֹׂתָם. (כ) לְבִלְתִּי רוּם לְבָבוֹ מֵאֶחָיו וּלְבִלְתִּי סוּר מִן הַמִּצְוָה יָמִין וּשְׂמֹאול לְמַעַן יַאֲרִיךְ יָמִים עַל מַמְלַכְתּוֹ הוּא וּבָנָיו בְּקֶרֶב יִשְׂרָאֵל.

פרק יח

(א) לֹא יִהְיֶה לַכֹּהֲנִים הַלְוִיִּם כׇּל שֵׁבֶט לֵוִי חֵלֶק וְנַחֲלָה עִם יִשְׂרָאֵל אִשֵּׁי י״י וְנַחֲלָתוֹ יֹאכֵלוּן. (ב) וְנַחֲלָה לֹא יִהְיֶה לּוֹ בְּקֶרֶב אֶחָיו י״י הוּא נַחֲלָתוֹ כַּאֲשֶׁר דִּבֶּר לוֹ. (ג) וְזֶה יִהְיֶה מִשְׁפַּט הַכֹּהֲנִים מֵאֵת הָעָם מֵאֵת זֹבְחֵי הַזֶּבַח אִם שׁוֹר אִם שֶׂה וְנָתַן לַכֹּהֵן הַזְּרֹעַ וְהַלְּחָיַיִם וְהַקֵּבָה. (ד) רֵאשִׁית דְּגָנְךָ תִּירֹשְׁךָ וְיִצְהָרֶךָ וְרֵאשִׁית גֵּז צֹאנְךָ תִּתֶּן לוֹ. (ה) כִּי בוֹ בָּחַר י״י אֱלֹהֶיךָ מִכׇּל שְׁבָטֶיךָ לַעֲמֹד לְשָׁרֵת בְּשֵׁם י״י הוּא וּבָנָיו כׇּל הַיָּמִים. (ו) וְכִי יָבֹא הַלֵּוִי מֵאַחַד שְׁעָרֶיךָ מִכׇּל יִשְׂרָאֵל אֲשֶׁר הוּא גָּר שָׁם וּבָא בְּכׇל אַוַּת נַפְשׁוֹ אֶל הַמָּקוֹם אֲשֶׁר יִבְחַר י״י. (ז) וְשֵׁרֵת בְּשֵׁם י״י אֱלֹהָיו כְּכׇל אֶחָיו הַלְוִיִּם הָעֹמְדִים שָׁם לִפְנֵי י״י. (ח) חֵלֶק כְּחֵלֶק יֹאכֵלוּ לְבַד מִמְכָּרָיו עַל הָאָבוֹת. (ט) כִּי אַתָּה בָּא אֶל הָאָרֶץ אֲשֶׁר י״י אֱלֹהֶיךָ נֹתֵן לָךְ לֹא תִלְמַד לַעֲשׂוֹת כְּתוֹעֲבֹת הַגּוֹיִם הָהֵם. (י) לֹא יִמָּצֵא בְךָ מַעֲבִיר בְּנוֹ וּבִתּוֹ בָּאֵשׁ קֹסֵם קְסָמִים מְעוֹנֵן וּמְנַחֵשׁ וּמְכַשֵּׁף. (יא) וְחֹבֵר חָבֶר וְשֹׁאֵל אוֹב וְיִדְּעֹנִי וְדֹרֵשׁ אֶל הַמֵּתִים. (יב) כִּי תוֹעֲבַת י״י כׇּל עֹשֵׂה אֵלֶּה וּבִגְלַל הַתּוֹעֵבֹת הָאֵלֶּה י״י אֱלֹהֶיךָ מוֹרִישׁ אוֹתָם מִפָּנֶיךָ. (יג) תָּמִים תִּהְיֶה עִם י״י אֱלֹהֶיךָ. (יד) כִּי הַגּוֹיִם הָאֵלֶּה אֲשֶׁר אַתָּה יוֹרֵשׁ אוֹתָם אֶל מְעֹנְנִים וְאֶל קֹסְמִים יִשְׁמָעוּ וְאַתָּה לֹא כֵן נָתַן לְךָ י״י אֱלֹהֶיךָ. (טו) נָבִיא מִקִּרְבְּךָ מֵאַחֶיךָ כָּמֹנִי יָקִים לְךָ י״י אֱלֹהֶיךָ אֵלָיו תִּשְׁמָעוּן. (טז) כְּכֹל אֲשֶׁר שָׁאַלְתָּ מֵעִם י״י אֱלֹהֶיךָ בְּחֹרֵב בְּיוֹם הַקָּהָל לֵאמֹר לֹא אֹסֵף לִשְׁמֹעַ אֶת קוֹל י״י אֱלֹהָי וְאֶת הָאֵשׁ הַגְּדֹלָה הַזֹּאת לֹא אֶרְאֶה עוֹד וְלֹא אָמוּת. (יז) וַיֹּאמֶר י״י אֵלָי הֵיטִיבוּ אֲשֶׁר דִּבֵּרוּ. (יח) נָבִיא אָקִים לָהֶם מִקֶּרֶב אֲחֵיהֶם כָּמוֹךָ וְנָתַתִּי דְבָרַי בְּפִיו וְדִבֶּר אֲלֵיהֶם אֵת כׇּל אֲשֶׁר אֲצַוֶּנּוּ. (יט) וְהָיָה הָאִישׁ אֲשֶׁר לֹא יִשְׁמַע אֶל דְּבָרַי אֲשֶׁר יְדַבֵּר בִּשְׁמִי אָנֹכִי אֶדְרֹשׁ מֵעִמּוֹ. (כ) אַךְ הַנָּבִיא אֲשֶׁר יָזִיד לְדַבֵּר דָּבָר בִּשְׁמִי אֵת אֲשֶׁר לֹא צִוִּיתִיו לְדַבֵּר וַאֲשֶׁר יְדַבֵּר בְּשֵׁם אֱלֹהִים אֲחֵרִים וּמֵת הַנָּבִיא הַהוּא. (כא) וְכִי תֹאמַר בִּלְבָבֶךָ אֵיכָה נֵדַע אֶת הַדָּבָר אֲשֶׁר לֹא דִבְּרוֹ י״י. (כב) אֲשֶׁר יְדַבֵּר הַנָּבִיא בְּשֵׁם י״י וְלֹא יִהְיֶה הַדָּבָר וְלֹא יָבֹא הוּא הַדָּבָר אֲשֶׁר לֹא דִבְּרוֹ י״י בְּזָדוֹן דִּבְּרוֹ הַנָּבִיא לֹא תָגוּר מִמֶּנּוּ.

פרק יט

(א) כִּי יַכְרִית י״י אֱלֹהֶיךָ אֶת הַגּוֹיִם אֲשֶׁר י״י אֱלֹהֶיךָ נֹתֵן לְךָ אֶת אַרְצָם וִירִשְׁתָּם וְיָשַׁבְתָּ בְעָרֵיהֶם וּבְבָתֵּיהֶם. (ב) שָׁלוֹשׁ עָרִים תַּבְדִּיל לָךְ בְּתוֹךְ אַרְצְךָ אֲשֶׁר י״י אֱלֹהֶיךָ נֹתֵן לְךָ לְרִשְׁתָּהּ. (ג) תָּכִין לְךָ הַדֶּרֶךְ וְשִׁלַּשְׁתָּ אֶת גְּבוּל אַרְצְךָ אֲשֶׁר יַנְחִילְךָ י״י אֱלֹהֶיךָ וְהָיָה לָנוּס שָׁמָּה כׇּל רֹצֵחַ. (ד) וְזֶה דְּבַר הָרֹצֵחַ אֲשֶׁר יָנוּס שָׁמָּה וָחָי אֲשֶׁר יַכֶּה אֶת רֵעֵהוּ בִּבְלִי דַעַת וְהוּא לֹא שֹׂנֵא לוֹ מִתְּמֹל שִׁלְשֹׁם. (ה) וַאֲשֶׁר יָבֹא אֶת רֵעֵהוּ בַיַּעַר לַחְטֹב עֵצִים וְנִדְּחָה יָדוֹ בַגַּרְזֶן לִכְרֹת הָעֵץ וְנָשַׁל הַבַּרְזֶל מִן הָעֵץ וּמָצָא אֶת רֵעֵהוּ וָמֵת הוּא יָנוּס אֶל אַחַת הֶעָרִים הָאֵלֶּה וָחָי. (ו) פֶּן יִרְדֹּף גֹּאֵל הַדָּם אַחֲרֵי הָרֹצֵחַ כִּי יֵחַם לְבָבוֹ וְהִשִּׂיגוֹ כִּי יִרְבֶּה הַדֶּרֶךְ וְהִכָּהוּ נָפֶשׁ וְלוֹ אֵין מִשְׁפַּט מָוֶת כִּי לֹא שֹׂנֵא הוּא לוֹ מִתְּמוֹל שִׁלְשׁוֹם. (ז) עַל כֵּן אָנֹכִי מְצַוְּךָ לֵאמֹר שָׁלֹשׁ עָרִים תַּבְדִּיל לָךְ. (ח) וְאִם יַרְחִיב י״י אֱלֹהֶיךָ אֶת גְּבֻלְךָ כַּאֲשֶׁר נִשְׁבַּע לַאֲבֹתֶיךָ וְנָתַן לְךָ אֶת כׇּל הָאָרֶץ אֲשֶׁר דִּבֶּר לָתֵת לַאֲבֹתֶיךָ. (ט) כִּי תִשְׁמֹר אֶת כׇּל הַמִּצְוָה הַזֹּאת לַעֲשֹׂתָהּ אֲשֶׁר אָנֹכִי מְצַוְּךָ הַיּוֹם לְאַהֲבָה אֶת י״י אֱלֹהֶיךָ וְלָלֶכֶת בִּדְרָכָיו כׇּל הַיָּמִים וְיָסַפְתָּ לְךָ עוֹד שָׁלֹשׁ עָרִים עַל הַשָּׁלֹשׁ הָאֵלֶּה. (י) וְלֹא יִשָּׁפֵךְ דָּם נָקִי בְּקֶרֶב אַרְצְךָ אֲשֶׁר י״י אֱלֹהֶיךָ נֹתֵן לְךָ נַחֲלָה וְהָיָה עָלֶיךָ דָּמִים. (יא) וְכִי יִהְיֶה אִישׁ שֹׂנֵא לְרֵעֵהוּ וְאָרַב לוֹ וְקָם עָלָיו וְהִכָּהוּ נֶפֶשׁ וָמֵת וְנָס אֶל אַחַת הֶעָרִים הָאֵל. (יב) וְשָׁלְחוּ זִקְנֵי עִירוֹ וְלָקְחוּ אֹתוֹ מִשָּׁם וְנָתְנוּ אֹתוֹ בְּיַד גֹּאֵל הַדָּם וָמֵת. (יג) לֹא תָחוֹס עֵינְךָ עָלָיו וּבִעַרְתָּ דַם הַנָּקִי מִיִּשְׂרָאֵל וְטוֹב לָךְ. (יד) לֹא תַסִּיג גְּבוּל רֵעֲךָ אֲשֶׁר גָּבְלוּ רִאשֹׁנִים בְּנַחֲלָתְךָ אֲשֶׁר תִּנְחַל בָּאָרֶץ אֲשֶׁר י״י אֱלֹהֶיךָ נֹתֵן לְךָ לְרִשְׁתָּהּ. (טו) לֹא יָקוּם עֵד אֶחָד בְּאִישׁ לְכׇל עָוֺן וּלְכׇל חַטָּאת בְּכׇל חֵטְא אֲשֶׁר יֶחֱטָא עַל פִּי שְׁנֵי עֵדִים אוֹ עַל פִּי שְׁלֹשָׁה עֵדִים יָקוּם דָּבָר. (טז) כִּי יָקוּם עֵד חָמָס בְּאִישׁ לַעֲנוֹת בּוֹ סָרָה. (יז) וְעָמְדוּ שְׁנֵי הָאֲנָשִׁים אֲשֶׁר לָהֶם הָרִיב לִפְנֵי י״י לִפְנֵי הַכֹּהֲנִים וְהַשֹּׁפְטִים אֲשֶׁר יִהְיוּ בַּיָּמִים הָהֵם. (יח) וְדָרְשׁוּ הַשֹּׁפְטִים הֵיטֵב וְהִנֵּה עֵד שֶׁקֶר הָעֵד שֶׁקֶר עָנָה בְאָחִיו. (יט) וַעֲשִׂיתֶם לוֹ כַּאֲשֶׁר זָמַם לַעֲשׂוֹת לְאָחִיו וּבִעַרְתָּ הָרָע מִקִּרְבֶּךָ. (כ) וְהַנִּשְׁאָרִים יִשְׁמְעוּ וְיִרָאוּ וְלֹא יֹסִפוּ לַעֲשׂוֹת עוֹד כַּדָּבָר הָרָע הַזֶּה בְּקִרְבֶּךָ. (כא) וְלֹא תָחוֹס עֵינֶךָ נֶפֶשׁ בְּנֶפֶשׁ עַיִן בְּעַיִן שֵׁן בְּשֵׁן יָד בְּיָד רֶגֶל בְּרָגֶל.

פרק כ

(א) כִּי תֵצֵא לַמִּלְחָמָה עַל אֹיְבֶךָ וְרָאִיתָ סוּס וָרֶכֶב עַם רַב מִמְּךָ לֹא תִירָא מֵהֶם כִּי י״י אֱלֹהֶיךָ עִמָּךְ הַמַּעַלְךָ מֵאֶרֶץ מִצְרָיִם. (ב) וְהָיָה כְּקָרׇבְכֶם אֶל הַמִּלְחָמָה וְנִגַּשׁ הַכֹּהֵן וְדִבֶּר אֶל הָעָם. (ג) וְאָמַר אֲלֵהֶם שְׁמַע יִשְׂרָאֵל אַתֶּם קְרֵבִים הַיּוֹם לַמִּלְחָמָה עַל אֹיְבֵיכֶם אַל יֵרַךְ לְבַבְכֶם אַל תִּירְאוּ וְאַל תַּחְפְּזוּ וְאַל תַּעַרְצוּ מִפְּנֵיהֶם. (ד) כִּי י״י אֱלֹהֵיכֶם הַהֹלֵךְ עִמָּכֶם לְהִלָּחֵם לָכֶם עִם אֹיְבֵיכֶם לְהוֹשִׁיעַ אֶתְכֶם. (ה) וְדִבְּרוּ הַשֹּׁטְרִים אֶל הָעָם לֵאמֹר מִי הָאִישׁ אֲשֶׁר בָּנָה בַיִת חָדָשׁ וְלֹא חֲנָכוֹ יֵלֵךְ וְיָשֹׁב לְבֵיתוֹ פֶּן יָמוּת בַּמִּלְחָמָה וְאִישׁ אַחֵר יַחְנְכֶנּוּ. (ו) וּמִי הָאִישׁ אֲשֶׁר נָטַע כֶּרֶם וְלֹא חִלְּלוֹ יֵלֵךְ וְיָשֹׁב לְבֵיתוֹ פֶּן יָמוּת בַּמִּלְחָמָה וְאִישׁ אַחֵר יְחַלְּלֶנּוּ. (ז) וּמִי הָאִישׁ אֲשֶׁר אֵרַשׂ אִשָּׁה וְלֹא לְקָחָהּ יֵלֵךְ וְיָשֹׁב לְבֵיתוֹ פֶּן יָמוּת בַּמִּלְחָמָה וְאִישׁ אַחֵר יִקָּחֶנָּה. (ח) וְיָסְפוּ הַשֹּׁטְרִים לְדַבֵּר אֶל הָעָם וְאָמְרוּ מִי הָאִישׁ הַיָּרֵא וְרַךְ הַלֵּבָב יֵלֵךְ וְיָשֹׁב לְבֵיתוֹ וְלֹא יִמַּס אֶת לְבַב אֶחָיו כִּלְבָבוֹ. (ט) וְהָיָה כְּכַלֹּת הַשֹּׁטְרִים לְדַבֵּר אֶל הָעָם וּפָקְדוּ שָׂרֵי צְבָאוֹת בְּרֹאשׁ הָעָם. (י) כִּי תִקְרַב אֶל עִיר לְהִלָּחֵם עָלֶיהָ וְקָרָאתָ אֵלֶיהָ לְשָׁלוֹם. (יא) וְהָיָה אִם שָׁלוֹם תַּעַנְךָ וּפָתְחָה לָךְ וְהָיָה כׇּל הָעָם הַנִּמְצָא בָהּ יִהְיוּ לְךָ לָמַס וַעֲבָדוּךָ. (יב) וְאִם לֹא תַשְׁלִים עִמָּךְ וְעָשְׂתָה עִמְּךָ מִלְחָמָה וְצַרְתָּ עָלֶיהָ. (יג) וּנְתָנָהּ י״י אֱלֹהֶיךָ בְּיָדֶךָ וְהִכִּיתָ אֶת כׇּל זְכוּרָהּ לְפִי חָרֶב. (יד) רַק הַנָּשִׁים וְהַטַּף וְהַבְּהֵמָה וְכֹל אֲשֶׁר יִהְיֶה בָעִיר כׇּל שְׁלָלָהּ תָּבֹז לָךְ וְאָכַלְתָּ אֶת שְׁלַל אֹיְבֶיךָ אֲשֶׁר נָתַן י״י אֱלֹהֶיךָ לָךְ. (טו) כֵּן תַּעֲשֶׂה לְכׇל הֶעָרִים הָרְחֹקֹת מִמְּךָ מְאֹד אֲשֶׁר לֹא מֵעָרֵי הַגּוֹיִם הָאֵלֶּה הֵנָּה. (טז) רַק מֵעָרֵי הָעַמִּים הָאֵלֶּה אֲשֶׁר י״י אֱלֹהֶיךָ נֹתֵן לְךָ נַחֲלָה לֹא תְחַיֶּה כׇּל נְשָׁמָה. (יז) כִּי הַחֲרֵם תַּחֲרִימֵם הַחִתִּי וְהָאֱמֹרִי הַכְּנַעֲנִי וְהַפְּרִזִּי הַחִוִּי וְהַיְבוּסִי כַּאֲשֶׁר צִוְּךָ י״י אֱלֹהֶיךָ. (יח) לְמַעַן אֲשֶׁר לֹא יְלַמְּדוּ אֶתְכֶם לַעֲשׂוֹת כְּכֹל תּוֹעֲבֹתָם אֲשֶׁר עָשׂוּ לֵאלֹהֵיהֶם וַחֲטָאתֶם לַי״י אֱלֹהֵיכֶם. (יט) כִּי תָצוּר אֶל עִיר יָמִים רַבִּים לְהִלָּחֵם עָלֶיהָ לְתׇפְשָׂהּ לֹא תַשְׁחִית אֶת עֵצָהּ לִנְדֹּחַ עָלָיו גַּרְזֶן כִּי מִמֶּנּוּ תֹאכֵל וְאֹתוֹ לֹא תִכְרֹת כִּי הָאָדָם עֵץ הַשָּׂדֶה לָבֹא מִפָּנֶיךָ בַּמָּצוֹר. (כ) רַק עֵץ אֲשֶׁר תֵּדַע כִּי לֹא עֵץ מַאֲכָל הוּא אֹתוֹ תַשְׁחִית וְכָרָתָּ וּבָנִיתָ מָצוֹר עַל הָעִיר אֲשֶׁר הִוא עֹשָׂה עִמְּךָ מִלְחָמָה עַד רִדְתָּהּ.

פרק כא

(א) כִּי יִמָּצֵא חָלָל בָּאֲדָמָה אֲשֶׁר י״י אֱלֹהֶיךָ נֹתֵן לְךָ לְרִשְׁתָּהּ נֹפֵל בַּשָּׂדֶה לֹא נוֹדַע מִי הִכָּהוּ. (ב) וְיָצְאוּ זְקֵנֶיךָ וְשֹׁפְטֶיךָ וּמָדְדוּ אֶל הֶעָרִים אֲשֶׁר סְבִיבֹת הֶחָלָל. (ג) וְהָיָה הָעִיר הַקְּרֹבָה אֶל הֶחָלָל וְלָקְחוּ זִקְנֵי הָעִיר הַהִוא עֶגְלַת בָּקָר אֲשֶׁר לֹא עֻבַּד בָּהּ אֲשֶׁר לֹא מָשְׁכָה בְּעֹל. (ד) וְהוֹרִדוּ זִקְנֵי הָעִיר הַהִוא אֶת הָעֶגְלָה אֶל נַחַל אֵיתָן אֲשֶׁר לֹא יֵעָבֵד בּוֹ וְלֹא יִזָּרֵעַ וְעָרְפוּ שָׁם אֶת הָעֶגְלָה בַּנָּחַל. (ה) וְנִגְּשׁוּ הַכֹּהֲנִים בְּנֵי לֵוִי כִּי בָם בָּחַר י״י אֱלֹהֶיךָ לְשָׁרְתוֹ וּלְבָרֵךְ בְּשֵׁם י״י וְעַל פִּיהֶם יִהְיֶה כׇּל רִיב וְכׇל נָגַע. (ו) וְכֹל זִקְנֵי הָעִיר הַהִוא הַקְּרֹבִים אֶל הֶחָלָל יִרְחֲצוּ אֶת יְדֵיהֶם עַל הָעֶגְלָה הָעֲרוּפָה בַנָּחַל. (ז) וְעָנוּ וְאָמְרוּ יָדֵינוּ לֹא [שָׁפְכוּ] (שפכה) אֶת הַדָּם הַזֶּה וְעֵינֵינוּ לֹא רָאוּ. Chapter 16

(18) You shall make judges and officers in all your gates which Hashem your God gives you, according to your tribes; and they shall judge the people with righteous judgment. (19) You shall not wrest justice. You shall not show partiality to persons, and you shall not take a bribe; for a bribe blinds the eyes of the wise and perverts the words of the righteous. (20) You shall follow that which is altogether just, that you may live and inherit the land which Hashem your God gives you. (21) You shall not plant for yourselves an Asherah, or any kind of tree, beside the altar of Hashem your God, which you shall make for yourselves. (22) And do not set for yourself up a pillar which Hashem your God hates.

Chapter 17

(1) You shall not sacrifice to Hashem your God an ox or a sheep in which there is a blemish or anything evil, for that is an abomination to Hashem your God. (2) If there is found in your midst, within any of your gates which Hashem your God gives you, man or woman, who does that which is evil in the sight of Hashem your God, in transgressing his covenant, (3) and has gone and served other gods, and worshiped them, or the sun, or the moon, or any of the host of the sky, which I have not commanded; (4) and it be told to you, and you have heard of it, then you shall inquire diligently; and behold, if it is true, and the thing is certain that such abomination was done in Israel, (5) then you shall bring forth that man or that woman, who has done this evil thing, to your gates, even the man or the woman; and you shall stone them to death with stones. (6) By the mouth of two witnesses or three witnesses, shall he who is to die be put to death; by the mouth of one witness he shall not be put to death. (7) The hand of the witnesses shall be first on him to put him to death, and afterward the hand of all the people. So you shall put away the evil from your midst. (8) If there arises a matter too hard for you in judgment, between blood and blood, between plea and plea, and between stroke and stroke, being matters of controversy within your gates; then you shall arise, and go up to the place which Hashem your God shall choose. (9) And you shall come to the priests, the Levites, and to the judge who shall be in those days: and you shall inquire; and they shall tell you the matter of judgment. (10) You shall do according to the matter which they shall tell you from that place which Hashem shall choose; and you shall observe to do according to all that they shall teach you. (11) According to the teaching which they shall teach you, and according to the judgment which they shall tell you, you shall do; you shall not turn aside from the matter which they shall show you, to the right hand, nor to the left. (12) The man who does presumptuously, in not listening to the priest who stands to serve there before Hashem your God, or to the judge, even that man shall die: and you shall put away the evil from Israel. (13) All the people shall hear, and fear, and no longer act presumptuously. (14) When you have come to the land which Hashem your God gives you, and shall possess it, and shall dwell therein, and shall say, "I will set a king over me, like all the nations that are around me"; (15) you shall surely set him as king over yourselves, whom Hashem your God shall choose. One from among your brothers you shall set as king over you; you may not put a foreigner over you, who is not your brother. (16) Only he shall not multiply horses to himself or cause the people to return to Egypt in order that he may multiply horses, because Hashem has said to you, "You shall not go back that way again." (17) He shall not multiply wives to himself, that his heart not turn away. He shall not greatly multiply for himself silver and gold. (18) It shall be, when he sits on the throne of his kingdom, that he shall write for himself a copy of this law in a book, out of that which is before the priests, the Levites. (19) And it shall be with him, and he shall read therein all the days of his life that he may learn to fear Hashem his God, to keep all the words of this law and these statutes, to do them, (20) so that his heart not be arrogant above his brothers, and that he not turn aside from the commandment, to the right hand or to the left, so that he may prolong his days in his kingdom, he and his children, in the midst of Israel.

Chapter 18

(1) The priests, the Levites, all the tribe of Levi, shall have no portion or inheritance with Israel. They shall eat the offerings of Hashem made by fire, and his inheritance. (2) They shall have no inheritance among their brothers. Hashem is their inheritance, as He has spoken to them. (3) This shall be the priests' due from the people, from those who offer a sacrifice, whether it be ox or sheep, that they shall give to the priest the shoulder, and the two cheeks, and the stomach. (4) The first fruits of your grain, of your new wine, and of your oil, and the first of the fleece of your sheep, you shall give him. (5) For Hashem your God has chosen him out of all your tribes, to stand to serve in the name of Hashem, him and his sons forever. (6) If a Levite comes from any of your gates out of all Israel, where he lives as a foreigner, and comes with all the desire of his soul to the place which Hashem shall choose, (7) then he shall serve in the name of Hashem his God, as all his brothers the Levites do, who stand there before Hashem. (8) They shall have equal portions to eat, besides that which comes of the sale of his father's estate. (9) When you have come into the land which Hashem your God gives you, you shall not learn to do like the abominations of those nations. (10) There shall not be found with you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, one who uses divination, one who practices sorcery, or an enchanter, or a sorcerer, (11) or a charmer, or a consulter with a familiar spirit, or a wizard, or a necromancer. (12) For whoever does these things is an abomination to Hashem. And because of these abominations Hashem your God drives them out from before you. (13) You shall be perfect with Hashem your God. (14) For, these nations that you shall dispossess listen to those who practice sorcery and to diviners, but as for you, Hashem your God has not allowed you so to do. (15) Hashem your God will raise up to you a prophet from your midst, of your brothers, like me. You shall listen to him. (16) This is according to all that you desired of Hashem your God in Horeb on the day of the assembly, saying, "Let me not hear again the voice of Hashem my God and let me not see this great fire any more, that I not die." (17) Hashem said to me, "They have said well that which they have spoken. (18) I will raise them up a prophet from among their brothers, like you; and I will put my words in his mouth, and he shall speak to them all that I shall command him. (19) It shall happen, that whoever will not listen to my words which he shall speak in my name, I will require it of him. (20) But the prophet who shall speak a word presumptuously in my name which I have not commanded him to speak, or who shall speak in the name of other gods, that prophet shall die." (21) If you say in your heart, "How shall we know the word which Hashem has not spoken?" (22) when a prophet speaks in the name of Hashem, if the thing doesn't follow or happen, that is the thing which Hashem has not spoken; the prophet has spoken it presumptuously, you shall not be afraid of him.

Chapter 19

(1) When Hashem your God shall cut off the nations whose land Hashem your God gives you, and you dispossess them, and dwell in their cities, and in their houses, (2) you shall set apart three cities for yourself in the midst of your land, which Hashem your God gives you to possess it. (3) You shall prepare the way, and divide the borders of your land which Hashem your God causes you to inherit into three parts, that every manslayer may flee there. (4) This is the case of the manslayer that shall flee there and live: whoever kills his neighbor unintentionally and didn't hate him in the past, (5) as when a man goes into the forest with his neighbor to chop wood, and his hand thrusts with the axe to cut down the tree, and the head slips from the handle and strikes his neighbor so that he dies; he shall flee to one of these cities and live, (6) lest the avenger of blood pursue the manslayer, while his heart is hot, and overtake him, because the way is long, and strike him mortally; whereas he was not worthy of death, inasmuch as he didn't hate him in time past. (7) Therefore I command you, saying, "You shall set apart three cities for yourselves." (8) If Hashem your God enlarges your border, as He has sworn to your fathers, and gives you all the land which He promised to give to your fathers, (9) if you keep all this commandment to do it, which I command you this day, to love Hashem your God, and to walk ever in his ways; then you shall add three cities more for yourselves, besides these three. (10) Thus innocent blood shall not be shed in the midst of your land which Hashem your God gives you for an inheritance, and blood be on you. (11) But if any man hates his neighbor, and lies in wait for him, and rises up against him, and strikes him mortally so that he dies, and he flees into one of these cities, (12) then the elders of his city shall send and bring him there, and deliver him into the hand of the avenger of blood, that he may die. (13) Your eye shall not pity him, but you shall put away the innocent blood from Israel, that it may go well with you. (14) You shall not remove your neighbor's boundary, which they have set of old times, in your inheritance which you shall inherit, in the land that Hashem your God gives you to possess it. (15) One witness shall not rise up against a man for any iniquity, or for any sin, in any sin that he sins. By the mouth of two witnesses, or by the mouth of three witnesses, shall a matter be established. (16) If an unrighteous witness rise up against any man to testify against him of wrongdoing, (17) then both the men between whom the controversy is shall stand before Hashem, before the priests and the judges who shall be in those days. (18) And the judges shall inquire diligently, and, behold, if the witness is a false witness, and has testified falsely against his brother, (19) then you shall do to him as he had thought to do to his brother. So you shall put away the evil from your midst. (20) Those who remain shall hear, and fear, and shall henceforth commit no more any such evil in your midst. (21) Your eyes shall not pity, a life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot.

Chapter 20

(1) When you go forth to battle against your enemies, and see horses, chariots, and a people more than you, you shall not be afraid of them; for Hashem your God is with you, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt. (2) It shall be, when you draw near to the battle, that the priest shall approach and speak to the people, (3) and shall tell them, "Hear, Israel, you draw near this day to battle against your enemies: don't let your heart faint; don't be afraid, or tremble, or be scared of them, (4) for Hashem your God is He who goes with you, to fight for you against your enemies, to save you." (5) The officers shall speak to the people, saying, "What man is there who has built a new house, and has not dedicated it? Let him go and return to his house, lest he die in the battle, and another man dedicate it. (6) What man is there who has planted a vineyard, and has not yet redeemed it? Let him go and return to his house, lest he die in the battle, and another man redeem it. (7) What man is there who has pledged to be married a wife, and has not taken her? Let him go and return to his house, lest he die in the battle, and another man take her." (8) The officers shall speak further to the people, and they shall say, "What man is there who is fearful and fainthearted? Let him go and return to his house, lest his brothers' heart melt as his heart." (9) It shall be, when the officers have finished speaking to the people, that they shall appoint captains of armies at the head of the people. (10) When you draw near to a city to fight against it, then proclaim peace to it. (11) It shall be, if it answers you in peace and opens to you, then it shall be that all the people who are found therein shall become tributary to you and shall serve you. (12) If it will not make peace with you, but will make war against you, then you shall besiege it, (13) and when Hashem your God delivers it into your hand, you shall strike every male of it with the edge of the sword. (14) But the women, and the little ones, and the livestock, and all that is in the city, even all its spoil, you shall plunder for yourself; and you shall eat the spoil of your enemies which Hashem your God has given you. (15) Thus you shall do to all the cities which are very far off from you, which are not of the cities of these nations. (16) But of the cities of these peoples that Hashem your God gives you for an inheritance, you shall keep nothing that breathes alive. (17) Rather, you shall utterly destroy them: the Hittite, and the Amorite, the Canaanite, and the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite, as Hashem your God has commanded you, (18) so that they not teach you to do like all their abominations which they have done to their gods; so would you sin against Hashem your God. (19) When you shall besiege a city a long time in making war against it to take it, you shall not destroy its trees by wielding an axe against them, for you eat of them, and you shall not cut them down. For is the tree of the field man, that it should be besieged by you? (20) Only the trees of which you know that they are not trees for food, you shall destroy and cut them down, that you may build bulwarks against the city that makes war with you until it falls.

Chapter 21

(1) If one is found slain in the land which Hashem your God gives you to possess it, lying in the field, and it isn't known who has struck him, (2) then your elders and your judges shall come forth, and they shall measure to the cities which are around him who is slain, (3) and it shall be, that the city which is nearest to the slain man, even the elders of that city shall take a heifer of the herd, which hasn't been worked with, and which has not drawn in the yoke, (4) and the elders of that city shall bring down the heifer to a valley with running water, which is neither plowed nor sown, and they shall break the heifer's neck there in the valley. (5) The priests, the sons of Levi, shall come near; for Hashem your God has chosen them to serve him, and to bless in the name of Hashem, and according to their word shall every controversy and every assault be. (6) All the elders of that city, who are nearest to the slain man, shall wash their hands over the heifer whose neck was broken in the valley. (7) And they shall answer and say, "Our hands have not shed this blood, and our eyes have not seen it. (8) Forgive, Hashem, your people Israel, whom you have redeemed, and don't allow innocent blood in the midst of your people Israel." The blood shall be forgiven them. (9) So you shall put away the innocent blood from your midst when you shall do that which is right in the eyes of Hashem.
