(1) And David spoke to Hashem the words of this song on the day that Hashem delivered him out of the hand of all his enemies, and out of the hand of Saul. (2) And he said, "The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer. (3) The God who is my rock, in Him I take refuge. My shield, and my horn of salvation, my high tower, and my refuge, my savior; You save me from violence. (4) Praised, I cry, is Hashem; and I am saved from my enemies. (5) For the waves of death encircled me; the floods of wickedness assailed me. (6) The cords of Sheol surrounded me; the snares of death confronted me. (7) In my distress I called upon Hashem; I called to my God. And out of His temple He heard my voice, and my cry entered into His ears. (8) Then the earth shook and quaked; the foundations of heaven trembled. They were shaken, because He was angry. (9) Smoke arose up in His nostrils, and fire out of His mouth devoured; coals flamed forth from Him. (10) He bowed the heavens also and came down; and thick darkness was under His feet. (11) And He rode upon a cherub and flew; He was seen upon the wings of the wind. (12) And He made darkness pavilions around Him; a mass of waters, thick clouds of the skies. (13) At the brightness before Him, coals of fire flamed forth. (14) The Lord thundered from heaven; and the Most High gave forth His voice. (15) And He sent out arrows and scattered them; lightning, and confused them. (16) And the channels of the sea appeared; the foundations of the world were laid bare, by the rebuke of Hashem, at the blast of the breath of His nostrils. (17) He sent from on high, He took me; He drew me out of many waters. (18) He delivered me from my enemy most strong; from those that hated me, for they were too mighty for me. (19) They confronted me on the day of my calamity; but Hashem was a support for me. (20) He brought me forth into a large place; He delivered me, because He delighted in me. (21) The Lord rewarded me according to my righteousness; according to the cleanness of my hands He recompensed me. (22) For I have kept the ways of Hashem, and have not wickedly departed from my God. (23) For all His ordinances were before me; and as for His statutes, I did not depart from them. (24) And I was single-hearted toward Him, and I kept myself from my iniquity. (25) Therefore has Hashem recompensed me according to my righteousness, according to my cleanness in His eyes. (26) With the merciful You show Yourself merciful; with the upright man You show Yourself upright. (27) With the pure You show Yourself pure; and with the crooked You show Yourself cunning. (28) And the afflicted people You save; but Your eyes are upon the haughty, to humble them. (29) For You are my lamp, Hashem; and Hashem lightens my darkness. (30) For by You I run upon a troop; by my God I scale a wall. (31) As for God, His way is perfect; the word of Hashem is tried. He is a shield to all those that take refuge in Him. (32) For who is God, besides Hashem? And who is a rock, besides our God? (33) God is my strong fortress; He clears my way towards perfection. (34) He makes my feet like does', and sets me upon my high places. (35) He trains my hands for war, so that my arms bend a bow of brass. (36) You have given me Your shield of salvation; and Your humility has made me great. (37) You have enlarged my steps under me, and my feet have not slipped. (38) I have pursued my enemies, and destroyed them; and I did not turn back until they were consumed. (39) And I have consumed them, and shattered them, that they cannot rise; they have fallen under my feet. (40) For You have girded me with strength for battle; You have subdued under me those that rose up against me. (41) You have also made my enemies turn their backs to me; those that hate me, that I might cut them off. (42) They looked, but there was no savior; even to Hashem, but He did not answer them. (43) I beat them small as the dust of the earth, I crushed them as the mire of the streets, and trampled them. (44) You have delivered me from the disputes of my people. You have kept me to be the head of the nations; a people whom I have not known serve me. (45) Foreigners dwindle away before me; as soon as they hear of me, they obey me. (46) Foreigners fade away, and come haltingly out of their closed places. (47) Hashem lives; blessed be my Rock and exalted be the God, my Rock of salvation, (48) the God that executes vengeance for me, and brings down peoples under me, (49) that brings me forth from my enemies. You lift me up above those that rise up against me; You deliver me from the violent man. (50) Therefore I will give thanks to You, Hashem, among the nations, and I will sing praises to Your name. (51) A tower of salvation is He to His king; and He shows mercy to His anointed, to David and to his seed, forever.
